Should I carry a gun in my car?
I have been a victim of random road rage in the past. In two cases, it was mistaken identity and the other just a mild tap on the horn. In all cases, I was followed and faceably confronted once stopped. I called the police, but they were still minutes away. I hate the thought of carrying a gun because I might have used it in each case. Opinions?
I don't mind obtaining a concealed weapon permit, if so.

Buying a gun and getting a permit do not prepare you for an armed confrontation. Get properly trained by a qualified instructor if at all possible. The more learn about firearms, defense and tactics the more likely you not be forced to use them. Learn awareness and avoidance, learn how to defuse a tense situation. A gun is not the first thing you think of when defending your self but the last. If the only tool in your toolbox is a hammer, soon everything starts looking like a nail.
I've taught numerous self defense classes and I'm a firm believer in a firearm for self defense. But I'm also a believer in serious training and having lots of options.
I congratulate anyone who is willing to take on the responsibility for their own safety as the police have no legal obligation to do so. You and only you are responsible. Take it seriously and become properly trained. Don't just learn how to poke holes in a paper target on the range.
