1990quarter mint error?
I have a quarter made in 1990 that I got as change at the library at my high school.
I realize I quarter made in 1990 is normally of no value other than 25 cents, but I think this one may be a mint error, although I cannot find a website describing what I think the error is.
You see, on the edge of the quarter, where you can see the copper insert, the nickel protrudes from the quarter. The copper has the grooves in it, the nickel sticks out beyond the copper and is smooth.
The head and tails of the quarter are very dirty, and I cannot seem to get it off. It looks like someone dipped it in cement and wiped it off, leaving cement in any recesses.
What is up with this coin?
I don't think this will add any value to the coin, but I could be mistaken. I suggest you take it to a reputable coin dealer, and see what they say.
